Emelie could see them getting closer to the mansion and she was excited to see what he had in store for her. Although still in the back of her mind she still felt that she should have stayed by the well and waited for the kid in the bush.

Shippo led Taurean for quite some time before they reached a proper road. "The villiage that my friends are in is down that way." he pointed to the left. "That girl's friend is one of mine, too. Her name's Kagome. Now, come on!" He began to run down the path. "It should only take a few minutes to get to that town. As he trotted to keep up with the fox, Taurean noticed a shed a short distance into the woods. "No sense running the whole way," he muttered as he detoured toward it. Before leaving the path, he took a quick look at the village itself, memorizing the location of the first building on the outskirts of town. He then went to the shed and grasped the handle to its door. Concentrating, he invoked the power of the shards on his left arm, pulling open a Door to Elsewhere. The door to the building at the edge of town opened, though no one inside the building would see it do so; it was only opening out. Taurean quickly stepped through, appearing outside the door at the outskirts of the town and closing the door after him, and waved to the fox who was now running toward him. "I wonder how my new friend will like that," he said to himself as he stood in the middle of the street and waited for Shippo. Shippo bolted after Taurean the moment he noticed he had decided to leave. "Hey! Whaddya think you're doing?!" He just had a chance to see him disappearing into the shed so he took ran over to it, threw open the doors and yelled, "All right - just what kind of - huh?!" He gasped in amazement at the lack of Taurean therein. After several moments of dashing about, within, around and perhaps even under the shed (in an all too anime-like way) he gave up. Grumbling to himself, he started marching towards the town they were headed to. "Stupid weirdo..." he mumbled, "... even if he went back to that girl I'll go get my friends first so we can track him down together..."

As he waited at the edge of the town, Taurean looked around, waving at anyone who looked his way and saying "Hello!" in an accented, I'm-obviously-a-foreigner way. He kept glancing up the road, wondering what was taking the fox demon so long. The jewels on his right arm, hidden beneath his sleeve, still pulsed slightly from the use of their power, but this would only be obvious to someone with greater-than-human senses for such things.

Emelie could see them getting closer to the mansion and she was excited to see what he had in store for her. Although still in the back of her mind she still felt that she should have stayed by the well and waited for the kid in the bush. Hitten and Emelie landed on the rocky cliff just next to his mansion. It was less than the glorious place that he had described to her, as it seemed to have been partially reclaimed by nature. Vines ran up, around and even through the building and not a sign of human life seemed to linger in it's walls. A look of confusion crossed Hitten's face and he began to move throughout the building, pulling Emelie along behind him. With each room he ran to, he gasped and began to get more desperate. They ran about for several minutes before he came to a larger room and dashed about, letting go of her hand. "What's going on?! Where is everyone?!" he yelled, turning about in every direction. "ANSWER ME!!!"

Farther down the road within the village, Inu Yasha sniffed the air casually. The group had been given free room and board from a local family they had helped out. It had been 2 days since then, and he was getting bored. As he began to scratch his right ear, Kagome perked up. "That's funny..." she said with a puzzled look upon her face. "What is it, Kagome?" Inu Yasha asked. "I sense something." She answered. "It's not a shikon jewel shard... but it seems kind of like one. I can't quite figure it out..." "Well, then..." Inu Yasha stood up, "Maybe we should go see what it is?"

Meanwhile, Shippo bolted into town just as fast as his little legs could carry him. He ran right past the stranger and then did a u-turn in order to come back again. "Hey! What the - ? How did you get here before me?! You're only human!"

Taurean smiled broadly at his confounded friend. "ONLY human? Did you ever think that maybe being human has its own advantages? Anyway, where are these friends of yours? I'm eager to meet them."

"What?! Y-you don't even know what you're talking about! Humans can't teleport or - or dissappear like that! What kind of dirty, nasty trick was that to pull on me?!"
Shippo was clearly irate, and the sound of his yelling was drawing the attention of the town's residents. Soon, a small group of oddly-paired people came out of a nearby house. One of which was a man with white hair and dog ears, wearing only red. He crossed his arms and leaned against the house to watch for a few moments before moving over to intervene. "Hey you - That's my friend you're messing with." he said to Taurean with a birdiey smile.

Another broad smile flashed across Taurean's face as he looked at the new arrival. "Ah, the much-spoken-of friends have arrived. I am Taurean Chorono." He bowed deeply in proper Japanese fashion. "Shippo seems upset that I have demonstrated more-than-human powers, but there's an explanation for that." He rolled up his right sleeve to the elbow, revealing 5 small jeweled bracelets evenly spaced on his forearm. "While demons can draw power from crystals like these and enhance their own ability, it takes a human soul to draw out the unique powers that different cuts and colors of gemstones produce. For example, this one here lets me open a doorway that leads to somewhere other than the other side." He turned back to Shippo and raised an eyebrow at him. "Does that solve your confusion, my friend?"

"Well, I guess that explains the strange jewel power I was sensing." Kagome nodded.
"Yeah, whatever..." Inu Yasha responded. "I'm not sure everything is the way that this new guy says it is. So, is it true, Shippo?"
Shippo slumped in front of them, feeling sheepish. "Well, yeah, I guess.... He just disappeared on me and I was worried that he was gonna try to go back and do horrible things to that girl, and I -"
"Girl?" Kagome asked. Miroku finished the notion with, "Yeah! What girl?" - earning him a quick swat on the head from Sango.

When I approched her, Shippo popped up in a bush, suspicious of my motives, and insisted on moving me away from her. She had been looking for a friend of hers, I think. We should return to her before she gets in trouble. Shippo said she'd be safe by the well, but I'm not sure. . ."

Emelie was surprised by the sight of the run down mansion but was more surprised when Hitten started running around frantically pulling her along. When he let go of her hand she was able to catch her breath. "Hey, what is going. Why are you so upset?" she asked placing her hand on his shoulder.

When he let go of her hand she was able to catch her breath. "Hey, what is going. Why are you so upset?" she asked placing her hand on his shoulder. "Noone's here..." He said quietly but then yelled, "Where are they?!" He turned towards Emelie with a frantic look on his face. "I don't understand... I'm lord of this house. I was..." He looked almost as if he was in pain. "My brother and I - my broth-" At that he shrunk down and grabbed his head, a slew of old memories suddenly flooding into it. He remembered the fight with Shippo and Inu Yasha.... He remembered Manten dieing and taking his jewel shards from him to take revenge on those two. Jewel shards that now sung in his body with 2 more.... He fought well; but then the blackness came. He understood it now to be that he died. Even when Naraku brought him back and told him that, he didn't allow himself to believe it. He took the jewel shards that he had offered him, but he brushed off the idea that he was somehow in debt to Naraku for it. The idea that his brother was gone now sunk into him all over again. Having to go through the loss of the only person he ever loved now a second time was making him terribly unstable. He was slumped into a small heap on the floor, tears welling up into his red eyes - a sight that looked unnatural indeed.

Emelie was surprised to see this guy break down. He was so strong and confident before now he was a complete wreck. He is really taking this hard. He must have been really close to someone here. Although she didn't know him well her heart broke for him. She sat down next to him and put her arm around his shoulder to comfort him. "It's okay. Maybe the person who was here is just out for a bit and will come back soon." Emelie said in a comforting tone.

Hitten threw her off of him with one arm and screamed, "NO! This entire place... everyone.... everything ... is not like it should be!" His fury was obvious by the fire building in his eyes. "This is all because of that little runt! Manten and I..... " suddenly, his fury seemed to turn into crazed laughter. "I see...." he said. "I finally see why I was brought back. It's a second chance, you see." He smiled at Emelie. "I'm supposed to seek my revenge on that little fox demon." He went near one of the walls in the room he was in, stomped his staff upon the floor (kicking up dust everywhere) and slid the end of it into a whole that had been concealed before. Almost immediately, a loud scraping echoed throughout the house, and the wall slid magically to the side revealing a large alcove dug into the stone behind. The alcove seemed to be filled with all sorts of treasures - and weapons! Hitten removed a small pouch, hefted it for it's weight and then tied it about his waist. He took several minutes time honing and sharpening the blade of his spear, occasionally looking in Emelie's direction with that same hungry look he had given her before. Behind him, something seemed to shimmer in the dim light that found it's way into the alcove...
